- New Years Eve was a nice quiet night in with friends. none of us wanted to go out so we may as well not go out together. New Years Day was relaxed, and then we went to the airport...
- Travel: I took a long weekend trip to San Diego. My husband travels some weekends for work, this time I was not wrapped up in work because my office shuts down for the holidays, and it was a cool destination, so I tagged along.
- Work didn't start back up until Jan 5 so I had time after the holidays to clean, organize and just savor being at home...
- And with my job itself, I came back and received/accepted an offer to move internally for a position I'd been interviewing for. It will take some weeks to fully transition but it's a new chapter to look forward to.
- Being active - recent health scares in my family only reinforced the drive to get (and stay) fit and healthy. Unfortunately I had taken December off. So once January came, I went back to Pilates, and even went to the driving range two weekends in a row. I went to the gym at work once already this week, and now that I'm back in the office, I am reminding myself to take a break from the monitor/cubicle and go take a walk.
- Community and spirituality - This past weekend I volunteered at the food bank with my alumni group, and it felt really great to get out of my head and do something for the more vulnerable in society. My husband and I also went back to our local church (we'd been away for the holidays) and I realized it's feeling more and more like 'our' church, especially after we had donated some children's gifts for Christmas.
I don't have any discrete resolutions for the new year but I do aim to keep this momentum going past January (and probably document the efforts here).
